If you’ve been reading this blog for some time now, you know that I am completely obsessed with complexion makeup, like foundation and primers. I’ve heard a lot of wonderful things about the Bare Minerals Powder Foundation, but after my good friend Lauren recommended it to me a few days ago and I found a great starter kit at Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty, I couldn’t resist buying it. How is it possible to save any money for travel when there is so much makeup around me?
I got the Bare Minerals Up Close & Beautiful Complexion Starter Kit in shade Fairly Light for only $20 at Ulta, and am extremely happy with the purchase. Up until now I wasn’t a huge fan of powder foundations because they tend to highlight dry patches on my face. Well, it turns out I’ve been doing a lot of things wrong while applying the Bare Minerals Foundation. For starters, I didn’t apply and let dry a primer. The Prime Time Primer that comes in this kit is similar to Smashbox Photo Finish, it’s very gel-like and goes on smoothly. Then I didn’t use the right brush – I think it’s very important that I use the Bare Escentuals Flawless Application Brush (or any powder brush, I guess) and not the buffing brush I used last time. Third, the technique. In order to avoid cakiness later in the day, I need to buff in the powder like there’s no tomorrow. The foundation doesn’t block pores, so there’s no way you could buff too much.
Anyhow, this time I had a really good experience with application. The kit comes with the original Bare Minerals Powder Foundation, concealer, mineral veil, primer and two brushes. Of course, all of them are teeny-tiny things and are great for beginners or travelers. I have a feeling I’ll be coming back for this kit before my summer trip to Europe. No foundation has ever given me a smoother and brighter look than this one, so I am completely sold.
I am excited to see whether or not this mineral makeup helps with my acne problem. Has anyone had this experience?
What do you think of the Bare Minerals Powder Foundation? Have you used any other Bare Minerals products? Any tips for application?
