New quarter, new look! Sunday afternoon I decided to go out for a spontaneous haircut, and couldn’t be happier with the results. After looking through what seems like thousands of photos on Pinterest, I decided to go for a shorter look, and later perhaps add a beachy wave perm to give my hair some more volume. I was looking for something along the lines of Lily Collins’ and January Jones’ looks, and think I’ll be able to get the best of both once my hair grows out.
I also picked up a few hair styling products from Garnier, so I’ll be showing those off in the next post!
What do you think? What’s the hair style you’re going for this spring?
With a huge Euro trip coming up this summer, I’ve been trying to cut down on my spending (specifically makeup spending) to save up a little money. This doesn’t mean that my eyes aren’t wondering around, looking for something new and beautiful to try out. My list this time is more about contouring and highlighting than foundation, as I think I’m very happy with the Bare Minerals Original Powder Foundation and Mineral Veil I’ve picked up from Ulta a few days ago. Just as a side note, though, my mind has been filled with thoughts of upcoming travel and how I want to use as little makeup as possible to avoid the hassle. Keeping that in mind, here’s my quick wish list for this spring/summer:
This week I was lucky enough to try out Butter London’s new Iconoclast Mega Volume Lacquer Mascara! The name is a mouthful, but it’s totally worth trying out.
The promise: “300% Increase in volume with one coat and no Clumping, Smudging or Flaking”
The cost: $20.00
Why it’s cool: the brush shape lets you apply mascara precisely, it doesn’t clump and doubles the volume.
*Comes in the same line as the Iconoclast Infinite Lacquer Liner
After using this mascara for a few days, I think I can safely say that it does what it’s supposed to do: volumizes the lashes quite a bit, doesn’t clump too much and holds the curl really well. My one little note is that it’s definitely not water resistant. My eyes tend to water a lot, so every time I get some tears, the mascara on the bottom lashes starts to run just a tiny bit. This isn’t a real problem for me, though, a slight swipe with a tissue can fix it in no time.
The photo below is with me wearing two layers. I’m quite happy with how long and poofy it makes my eye lashes look, so will definitely use this one for a while now!
Have you tried Butter London’s new Iconoclast mascara and eye liner? What do you think?
If you’ve been reading this blog for some time now, you know that I am completely obsessed with complexion makeup, like foundation and primers. I’ve heard a lot of wonderful things about the Bare Minerals Powder Foundation, but after my good friend Lauren recommended it to me a few days ago and I found a great starter kit at Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty, I couldn’t resist buying it. How is it possible to save any money for travel when there is so much makeup around me? Read More
Yay, finally received my March Ipsy Glambag! This month it includes the following products: Pixi by Petra Mineral Duo Eyeshadow ($12.99), Crown Eye Shadow Brush ($18.99), Coolway Glow Oil Treatment ($24.99), Skyn Iceland Firming Eye Gels ($30), and the NYX Butter Lipstick ($6) all for only $10 a month!
I was most excited about the Pixi Mineral Eye Shadow and Crown Brush. For a newbie in eye makeup, this was the perfect opportunity to receive a great brush and some nice eye shadow for less that $10, so this was a steal. I love the colors of the eye shadow, I’m all up for a natural look. However, they are not as pigmented as I’d like them to be, so I ended up just pressing my finger in the powder, which for some reason made it look more bold on my eyelid. I have no complaints about the brush – it has two ends, one thicker and one with a thinner tip for outlining and contouring within the eye. This will be a perfect brush for my beginnings as well as those times for travel.
Number three on my list of all these products is the NYX Butter Lipstick. I probably won’t be using it in this color, but the sample gave me a pretty good idea of what the lipstick is, so I’ll be definitely picking this one up from the drugstore in the nearest future. It’s moisturizing, soft, and was very good at hiding all the weird dry patches on my lips. Here is the swatch of shade Hunk.
As for the hair oil and eye creams, I haven’t gotten a chance to try those out quite yet. The hair oil bottle looks a bit too tiny for me to squeeze out even a drop of oil, but the eye creams look very promising! So I know what I’ll be trying out during my next pampering session :)
